EADTC & iDev40 Technical Meeting - High-tech in Upper Lusatia

European top-level research at the HSZG

The iDev40 project biannual meeting was held on the 29th-30th November 2018 at the HSZG. The project consortium was warmly welcomed by the principle of the HSZG, Prof. Friedrich Albrecht. During the iDev40 technical meeting the project partners discussed project results to date and focused on the future collaboration to achieve the set research objectives as well as the creation of new synergies between the partners, in specific between research institutions and industrial companies.

After the first intense meeting day, the consortium was invited to a guided city tour by Prof. Jos Tom-Low, who introduced the participants to the history of Zittau and the region of Upper Lusatia. After another warmly welcome speech by Thomas Zenker (Lord Mayor of Zittau), the social event took place at the Gerhardt-Hauptmann Theater in a relaxed atmosphere.

iDev40 Project Consortium

1st European Conference in the context of Digitization - The EADTC took place on the 29th November 2018, before the iDev40 technical meeting was held. This conference was installed on initiative of Prof. Sophia Keil (HSZG) and the iDev40 Coordination Team, Sabine Allmayer and Josef Moser (IFAT). The initial aim was to present the iDev40 consortium's research results to date and discussing them with the broader public.

Patrick Moder from Infineon Technologies AG (Munich) presented an approach of semantic web technologies to accelerate digitalization in the context of a digital twin. Prof. Christoph Laroque from the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau discussed an innovative method in the context of backward simulation to reduce production time. Prof. Gerald Reiner from the Vienna University of Economics and Business focused on a system dynamics approach for modeling return on quality in the ECS industry. Furthermore, Dr. Germar Schneider from Infineon Dresden discussed opportunities and risks of the digitalization in the semiconductor industry.

Due to its success, it is the vision to install this conference as a platform for digital transformation in Europe (European Advances in Digital Transformation Conference - EADTC), to provide an alternative to already existing conferences in similar fields, for knowledge enhancement and exchange in the ECS industry.
