Sirris Het Collectief Centrum Van De Technologische Industrie

Sirris is a private collective research centre founded in 1949 by Agoria, the multi-sector federation for the Belgian technology industry. Sirris has about 2500 member companies, which range from small and medium-sized businesses to multinational companies (>95% SMEs), active in the sectors of Materials, Metal Products, Automobile, ICT & Mechatronics, Industrial Automation. Its mission is to improve the competitiveness of its member companies through technology and innovation.

Sirris is a non-profit collective research centre of the Belgian technological industry. Sirris has currently about 140 employees in 5 domains of expertise: ICT, advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, materials and sustainability. The team of in-house experts focuses on knowledge acquisition (fundamental and applied research) and knowledge transfer (industrial projects). Sirris also has a broad network of external knowledge partners, including specialized companies, universities, knowledge centers, and research institutions.

The ICT subdivision of Sirris will participate in iDev40. Within this division, the expertise with relation to advanced data processing is bundled in the Data Innovation Team. This team exists since 2009, has steadily grown since, and has established a rich portfolio of fundamental and industrial R&D projects with a large number of key industrial players (including big industrial organization such as ATOS, Infineon, Philips, Thales, Honeywell and innovative SMEs such as Firstbeat, Akhela, TIE Kinetix and Integrasys) academic partners within Belgium and across Europe (amongst others: VTT (Finland), Institut Mines-Telecom (France), Fraunhofer IAIS (Big Data group - Germany), and Tecnalia (Spain), KULeuven (Belgium)).

Role

Sirris will be involved in the data analytics activities of iDev40 and work in close collaboration with the Belgian company Yazzoom involved in this project.

Key Contribution

In iDev40, Sirris will contribute to the realization of a data-driven methodology for:

  • the enrichment of the available machine data using external sources with weather info, road slope, road condition, etc. 

  • the extraction of status/health indicators and quantification of system behaviour.
